It’s Wednesday again!
Moda Blockheads 2017 Block #13 is Bowtie Quartet by Designer Lynne Hagmeier of Kansas Troubles Quilters. I love all of Lynn’s block and this one does not disappoint. I liked seeing bowtie quilts, especially when they were made into baby quilts, but I never tried one. This block went together quick and easy (two of my requirements) so I think the next baby quilt just may be this block. The possible block arrangements allows quilts to look different and interesting.
Please take the time to check out Lynn’s other designs at http://kansastroublesquilters-lynne.blogspot.com and the Moda site at http://blog.modafabrics.com.
It is not too late to follow along. The patterns and instructions can be found on the Moda web site or on the Facebook page for Moda Blockheads. The blocks are 6 1/2″ but several of us are making ours 12 1/2″.

Lovely! I like the colour combination, with the blue/purpley and brown/orangey ones diagonally opposite each other. I’ve never made a bowtie block but really like the design so that’s one for the future now!

Thank you. I found the bowtie was very easy and like the log cabin many designs can come from different layouts. I am looking forward to trying more. Hope you try it also.

Hi Peggy,
Wow – block #13 already. I like this block and I can see a peak at block #1 which is lovely, too. I will have to think about following along. I’ve never made a bowtie block/quilt either, but am always looking for an easy and quick one. ~smile~ Roseanne

This is my first bowtie also, but I don’t think it will be my last. Thinking of pastel colors for baby quilts. 🙂 You should try one. They are very easy and fun.

Thank you. I enjoy the Block of the Week. Would love to have you join us. I haven’t tried Pat’s sew-along yet but they always have beautiful quilts. Good weekend to you too.

It is an old pattern and very easy to sew. The bow ties can be placed different ways to make several designs.
