As much as I love star quilts I also love log cabin designs. I pieced and hand quilted this one over a year ago and found it while I was cataloging my stock. At 52″ x 66″ it is a fairly large quilt that will be perfect for a baby bed or toddler size bed. I used three shades of blue for one side of the cabin and three different shades and designs of white on white for the other side. Red gingham fabric was used for the binding to match the traditional red center block.
As you can see from the first picture Sami was on the job doing her quilt inspector imitation.

Thank you. I love how easy these are to sew and put together. Especially like getting different patterns depending on the layout.

I love log cabin too! There is something so meditative of working on a log cabin quilt, with all that chain piecing of each block. Love the quilt!

Thank you. I don’t think about them at all while piecing….just sit and sew. The thinking part comes in when figuring out the layout. So many ways and they all look good.

Log Cabin and its ‘process’ of construction is my go-to pattern when I just need to be sewing **something**…
Isn’t it fun to find a completed project you forgot you had? Blue and white: classic!

Yes it is. Now all of a sudden it is my favorite quilt. 🙂

I have a teeny tiny log cabin, I need to do that one!

I like using larger ‘logs’, up to 2.5 inches, but I love looking at the ones made with small logs.

Hi Peggy,
WOW – love the traditional red square in the middle. This is just stunning, and I am glad you found it so that it can receive some love. The red binding is just perfect to pull out those wonderful centers, and the white is so crisp and fabulous. Whatcha going do with it now that it has been unearthed? ~smile~ Roseanne

Very striking! So glad Sami put the stamp of approval on the quilt. Their opinion is very important. 😊
