Moda Blockheads Block of the Week #38

DSCN1340

Designer Betsy Chutchian of  Betsy’s Best Quilts and More is the designer of week #38 of the Blockheads block of the week. This striking block is called Peace and Plenty appropriately so for Thanksgiving week. When I first looked at this block the first thing I noticed was the pin wheel in the center and thought I had it all figured out before reading the instructions. The assembly was totally different from what I expected but with Betsy’s clear and easy to follow instructions it went together very quickly. Thanks Betsy for another fun and easy block.

On another note, Sami and I had Thanksgiving at my son and daughter-in-law’s lovely house in Georgia. We had a wonderful dinner and visit with all the family to include my DIL’s parents from Texas, my granddaughter and her husband, and my grandson and his girlfriend.  We were very honored the grandson surprised his momma with a visit from his Marine post in Arizona and grandson-in-law was able to stop in after his shift as a Georgia State Trooper. Between the two of these young men we were very well protected. Also, as the news has been shared on Face Book I think it is OK to share here: My granddaughter is expecting my first great-grandchild in June!!!! You all know how much I hoped this would happen soon. Everyone is beyond thrilled.

As most of you know, Sami the Wonder Dog has a reputation of being an extremely spoiled dog and VERY active. She lived up to her reputation but she got along pretty well with the other animals and even shared her toy with my grand dog, Bella.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I am a retired grandmother living in hot and sunny Florida. I spend most of my days doing what I love: sewing and quilting. I have a spoiled rotten Boston Terrier named Sami who keeps me busy mostly by cleaning up after her and refilling holes in the yard that she insists on digging and burying her toys. Of course then she digs them up and brings them into the house resulting in...you guessed it...more cleaning. I will be posting pictures of Sami, quilts, flowers, and other things as they come along. Glad to have you join me.

  1. Hi Peggy,
Welcome back home! It sounds like you and Sami had a fabulous time seeing everyone and hearing exciting news. {{Hugs}} How fabulous! Now you will be able to share sweet pictures on your blog, too! I look forward to that. I like that both the dark and lighter fabrics have a paisley design in it – very cool looking. This looks like a hard block to me. I’m glad you’re back in the swing of posting. You’ve been to quiet for my taste. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Thank you Roseanne. As much as we enjoyed seeing family it is so good to be home. We are so excited about the new baby but as they live about 8 hours away and both parents are very busy, I don’t think we will be able to see them as much as I would like. The block was very easy. I think it was the easiest one in this BOW, or maybe I am just used to having difficult blocks. 🙂

  2. Great looking block as usual! So glad you and Sami had a grand thanksgiving! So nice to be around family during the holidays. Way to go Sami for playing nicely with your friends. It’s ok if you stand your ground once and a while. Thanks for sharing your adventures! 🙂
